About & Contact
Viva Natura is a long-term natural history project documenting Mexico’s landscapes and biodiversity through field observation, photography and writing. Since its beginnings in 2001, the project has grown to include field guides, documentary film work and expedition-based journals focused primarily on the ecosystems of the Mexican Pacific.
The work is conducted and curated by Petr Myska. His observations form the foundation for the books, journals and photographic archives presented on this site.
Viva Natura aims to present nature as it is encountered in the field—through careful observation, direct experience and long-term exploration of specific ecosystems.
Selected projects and contributions include:
• Documentary film Touch of the Blue Crocodile
• Field naturalist appearances in Czech Television documentaries
• Correspondent contributions for BBC Radio Prague
• Articles for National Geographic Field Notes and Oceanographic Magazine
• Recognition in Science Magazine “Best of the Web”
• Contributions to CONABIO photographic archives
