Geographic range: Neotropical: Endemic to Mexico. Found in mountains of Atlantic slope from southern Tamaulipas to southern Hidalgo.

Physical characteristics: Dorso - ventrally compressed lizard with triangular head, reaching SV length of 14 cm. Characteristic features include: 31 - 34 transversal rows of dorsal scales. Body color in adults is yellowish, greenish of grayish, with 6 - 8 black transversal stripes, which are more pronounced in juveniles.

Food habits: data not available, but likely to consume insects and small vertebrates as other species of the same genus.

Reproduction: Viviparous. Data from field research suggest that breeding occurs in between May and June.

Behavior: Arboreal, usually found in epiphytic vegetation.

Habitat:
Pine and mesophilic forest in altitudes of 1000 - 2000 m above sea level.

Biomes: temperate forests

Conservation: Species listed in NOM (Norma Oficial Mexicana) as species in risk, due to significant habitat loss, small area of distribution and suspected pressure from illegal trade.
