  Nevado de Toluca is a 4200 m high extinct volcano 1h drive from Mexico City. Protected since 1936, it has the statut of National Park today. The volcano itself lies within the boundaries of Trans Mexican Volcanic Belt Pine - Oak forest ecosystem complex and harbors many endangered species of fauna and flora.
